When it Comes to Nutrition What’s the Balance?
Nowadays, everyone is following some type of popular lifestyle choice made famous in the media whether it be Keto, Paleo, or Vegan. While we believe vegan is the best option from these listed, we also stress the proper balance is regards to nutrition. When we say balance, we don’t mean all things equal. If your goal is to eat healthy and live your best life than the best way to do that is with proper balanced healthy eating habits.
Focus on What Weights More
Most people think of macronutrients and how to balance that when it comes to nutrition but focusing on this will get you in trouble. If we weighted our foods based on the source and the micronutrient density of that food, then we would get a better picture of what’s best to eat. We should focus on foods that are high in fiber, vitamins, and minerals from a whole plant-based food source. Being vegan is more of an ethical choice then a health choice. Keto diets are good for weight loss in the short term but has devastating effects on health long term. Paleo is a lifestyle philosophy focusing on the theory of how early man ate but doesn’t focus on getting the key nutrients needed for healthy living. Consider the food you put into your mouth and how that makes you feel, then focusing on what do you can’t live without.
Good Food Choices
To be clear, a whole food plant-based diet is the way to go for good health period. Sure, you can have meat and other foods that don’t provide a lot of nutrition in your diet everyone once in a blue moon, but you should focus on real food. Real food like brown rice, oats, quinoa, spinach, kale, broccoli, apples, oranges, bananas, strawberries, legumes, nuts, and sweet potatoes just to name a few. All these foods are rich in micronutrients with plenty of fiber to give you what your body needs while purging toxins in your body. Don’t concern yourself with the label, just live your best life today!
